Description

Hydrafast is a next generation oral rehydration solution. Hydrafast was developed alongside Professor Gayle Hallowell, Professor of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Critical Care at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham.

Hydrafast is designed to be the best choice to rehydrate and energise scouring calves.

Oral Rehydration is crucial in calf scour. Equally maintaining the calf’s calorie intake is important to prevent weight loss and weakness during recovery.

Recent research and improvements in understanding calf scour and rehydration show that most currently available products do not have an optimal formulation.

FEATURES OF HYDRAFAST:

  • High levels of glucose, which drives water absorption into the calf’s tissues and provides an energy source while the calf has a reduced appetite for milk.
  • Contains glycine, an amino acid which further facilitates water absorption.
  • Buffers counteract the high acid levels found in scouring calves without interfering with the digestion of milk.
  • Finely balanced concentrations of electrolytes and glucose provide maximum rehydrating power, energy provision, and acid buffering to support recovery.

Hydrafast comes in sachets of 133g. Each box of Hydrafast contains 24 sachets.

Hydrafast is a complete dietetic feedingstuff for the particular nutritional purpose of stabilisation of water and electrolyte balance.

Hydrafast is designed for use in the case of risk of, during periods of, or recovery from digestive disturbance (diarrhoea). It is recommended that a veterinarian’s advice is sought before use.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS: Mix the contents of one sachet in 2 litres of clean, fresh, warm water and mix thoroughly. Feed immediately.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER USE: Administer orally, preferably using a feeding bottle with teat. Alternatively, bucket or tube feeding can be used. At first signs of diarrhoea feed 2 litres of prepared solution twice daily and continue for at least 2 days. Continue milk or milk replacer feeding if at all possible. If milk feeding, ensure a 3 hour gap between Hydrafast and milk feedin
